Here are the most interesting points from our conversation:

Five takeaways from this conversation.

Actionable for Healthcare Tech founders

  1. AI-Driven Simplification Can Solve Industry Bottlenecks
Vicky highlights the power of using AI to simplify complex workflows, such as retinal imaging. By automating traditionally complex tasks, companies can overcome skill shortages and improve accessibility. Founders should consider how AI can help streamline operations and reduce reliance on specialized labor.
  2. Identifying a Market Need Before Building
Vicky emphasized the importance of validating a critical problem before building a product. In Identifeye's case, understanding the lack of accessible retinal screening solutions drove the company’s AI-powered innovation. Always ensure your product directly addresses a significant pain point in your target market before investing in its development.
  3. Rebranding as a Team Exercise
When identifeye HEALTH rebranded, Vicky involved the entire team to ensure the new brand resonated with the company’s mission. Engaging your team in the process ensures the rebrand reflects shared values and creates internal buy-in, making the transition smoother and more effective.
  4. Targeted Marketing via Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
Vicky’s strategy for Identifeye’s launch includes building close partnerships with industry influencers (KOLs) to drive earned media and brand awareness. This approach leverages trusted voices within the industry, enhancing credibility. Startups should think about building similar relationships with key figures in their markets to generate organic buzz.
  5. Grounded, Detailed Fundraising Pitches Are Key
When fundraising, Vicky stresses the importance of presenting clear, grounded business plans and understanding key assumptions. Investors are increasingly focused on use cases with direct paths to revenue, so founders should focus on developing detailed, realistic projections that can be defended.
